Yesterday was Cornell’s annual Dragon Day, where the first year architecture students make a large dragon and parade it around the campus. Last year, the dragon was rather spectacular, and I was hoping for something similar this year. I heard that the parade was going to start at about 1 pm, so I trundled along to the starting location shortly after then, but didn’t see or hear anything. There were some people standing around waiting with cameras, so I figured that the parade hadn’t started yet, and went to get some lunch. I came back 10 minutes later, only to find that the parade had already ended, and the dragon had already been ceremoniously decapitated It seemed that the parade moved really quickly this year; last year it took more than an hour to go around; a friend said that this year it was over and done with in about 15 minutes. Ah well. I didn’t get any good photos, but they dragon wasn’t nearly as good as it was last year, anyway. It was a big abstract metal thing this year, and while certainly impressive, wasn’t quite as spectacular as I was hoping for (particularly once its head was removed!). Ah well, try again next year!
Today was a lazy day. I slept in late, and enjoyed some computer games to celebrate the beginning of Spring Break (not that that means much to me, but you know, something to celebrate). In the evening, a housemate and I went shopping for stuff for dinner, and we came home and cooked up a wonderful curry, the recipe for which I’ll soon be posting on my recipes page. We cleaned up the kitchen a good lot, cooked the meal, enjoyed an appetiser of various cheeses (including mozarella with tomato, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar! mmm!), then our curry, and then decided that we were stuffed and would go and relax for a bit. A little later we cooked a carrot cake (which now is on my recipes page), and cleaned the kitchen again. I helped my brother with his maths homework and otherwise did some odds and ends (including laundry).
Hooray for a lazy day, particularly one where I got odds and ends done that have been wanting to be done for a while now! Tomorrow should be quiet and relaxing, but I need to get some work done too.
Edit: Curry with tofu and sweet potato recipe is up on my recipe page too, now!
